Guidelines for the Mailing List
Try to stay on topic.
This is a list about art. Please don't discuss tropical fish, poodle proclivities, newspaper articles, etc. unless related to art in an interesting way. If you want to discuss a topic that is not related to the group, try going to a group in another topic area or create a new one.
No spamming.
No distributing promotional materials; no sending junk mail; no forwarding of Erma Bombeck type jokes, chain letters, digital greeting cards, pyramid schemes, or other useless information to the list. No virus warnings. No Mac vs. PC bantering. Adding or inviting members you don't know or who have not given you permission to do so is not allowed. Harvesting or otherwise collecting information about others, including email addresses, without their permission is strictly prohibited.
No flaming.
No profanity or rudeness. Respect others points of view, and remember that online communication always tends to exaggerate feelings. Do not harass, abuse, or threaten other members. If a heated argument arises in your group, either ignore any unfair comments or respond in a way that doesn't fan the flames. Do not post content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable.
Please turn off HTML coding.
No type in colors, special fonts, or accent marks. Any links included in your messages will still remain live in your messages with HTML turned off.
Change the subject header.
So when you're changing the subject, a discussion on NC Wyeth doesn't carry a subject header "toxic pastel dust hazards" from three weeks before. Please quote pertinent information in your responses so everyone knows what you're talking about. And set your browser to use "internet style" quoting.
No 'Me too!' replies.
And no other singular one word postings to the entire list. Post those privately. None of the "Oh, my Aunt Mabel is from there!" postings. Members are encouraged to forge new friendships, but posts of a personal nature should be done off-list.
Whatever you write to the list will be read by many busy people.
So please make it worthwhile. Do not include personal address or phone numbers except in private e-mails. Hitting the Reply button will send your response to the entire list. If you want to send your response privately to the individual, please use just their e-mail address.
